First grizzly for this year, busy eating sedge grass over by cattle guard, not all that far from my house. Just got two pix before he-she moved on, will keep camera handy just in case it shows back up. Click on pix to show bear better. Someone once asked me why I don't get closer pix, I didn't have to say anything, as soon as it was said person realized what they had said.

Trip to town cancelled again, gout in my left ankle and foot wold make driving and walking most uncomfortable. As soon as the gout eases will undertake the trip. May go to Tatla tomorrow to see what produce they have on hand.

    Wow! Great photos of the bears!! And for the love of Mike, do not get any closer!! Do they ever come closer to your house? I can imagine that you, and your neighbors, are very careful about garbage for that very reason. I am sorry that you are having trouble navigating. I have knee issues, both knees, and broke my right ankle in 3 places almost 2 years ago. It is the pits not being able to get around the way you want to, isn't it? I hope you make it into town on Saturday to get some fresh produce. I have a friend who has just gotten the first cucumber from her garden. That is the very best thing about summer to me - the fresh veggies, and especially the tomatoes. Take care of yourself, and stay safe.

    I have a real phobia about bears! Family camp was in the Adirondack Mountains in NYS. Everyone wanted to go to the dump to see the bears with their kids. Not me! I have nightmares about bearsl

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
