This and That
Typical lunch this time of year, tomatoes from Desert Hills in Ashcroft (banana belt of BC). Went down and picked up a 25 pound box of ripe field tomatoes, have had one with every meal since getting home. Ashcroft is a good 5 hour drive, so it has to be a planned trip, expensive to drive that far but so worth it for me.
And have two more pair on the needles. The darker pair look like black is the main colour but its actually a really dark blue. The blue - greens is from last blog, all leftover small balls.
I haven't seen a bear in my yard this year, last year by mid August score was 10 blacks and 12 grizzles. I know that they are around because I've seen the deposits left behind. I just haven't seen the critters.
Please leave a comment so I will know people are reading the blog
Thanks for posting. Your lunch looks good., and socks gorgeous as expected. Maybe bears are feeling the heat too. I read your blog religiously but am not a commenter much. Glad to do so if it helps. I’m currently knitting a hat to use up remains from many blankets. Can’t do socks any more…yarn too small and eyesight even smaller.
ReplyDeleteStill reading here in Scotland. Those tomatoes look great and I love the socks. Sarah
ReplyDeleteAlways read Amber in England
ReplyDeleteLove your socks as usual. Happy to see you posting.
ReplyDeleteSox are great looking as usual. Those not-black ones are really spectacular.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you. I don't even want to think what the temperature is where you are Here in central Texas it's 104 today. We are promised a bit of relief by Friday: 95 for high and a low of 74. I haven't been doing much knittng...
Lunch or dinner looks delicious, hate that you have to go so far for tomatoes though. Sorry I don’t comment more often, having a quiet spell in life.
ReplyDeleteYour lunch looks delicious and well deserved after a 5 hour trip ( or is that 5 hr. one-way) to get the produce. I'm sure it makes you appreciate it that much more. Luckily we have tomatoes in our garden and if we can keep the deer out we get to eat most of them, or share with neighbors.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright colors in the scrappy socks. I keep thinking that I will try a pair with all the leftover sock yarn that I have, but haven't yet. Still knitting socks though. Nice to have a small project when it is hot and humid. Getting ready to start a sweater now that it should be cooling down. Always enjoy your blog, and love to hear about your knitting and what is going on with the weather and critters up there in B.C.
I read every post you make and I worry about you when you don’t post for a long time. I am glad you got your fruits and vegetables this summer. Keep on knitting.
ReplyDeleteI read every post also! Love the socks - what size needle do you use? I know that your ribbing is a 2x2 because I asked in a previous post.
ReplyDelete2.5 mm
DeleteI have been eating tomatoes too, from my neighbor's garden! Lucky me that she shares.
ReplyDeleteWe had a black bear stroll through the yard here in Vermont (happens a few times a year) and look longingly at our chickens. Caught on a trail cam. Fortunately all the food goes inside at night so it just took a good look and kept on rambling.
I've moved from Louisiana to Minnesota to get out of the heat. Finally found my way back to my blog subscriptions. Your lunch picture looks like a lunch I'm fond of.
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always a perk. Love that open desert country. I’d a come home heavily laden . Geez, did I see foot ball already?
ReplyDeleteStill checking in daily from PA and happy to see new posts as they appear. Love the scrappy socks and appreciate your patience; not sure I could deal with all the loose ends. Be well; thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove the blog & always read it! Love the scrappy socks….my fav…, well love them all…. Love when you write!
ReplyDeleteDi in Ontario….
I always look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for writing.
ReplyDeleteI check in periodically to see how you are getting on. My lunches and dinners have been all tomatoes for the past month! I am lucky to grow them myself in Southern California.

DeleteLove the navy socks. Could the heat be making the bears shy?
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading , the cucumbers and tomatoes look yummy
ReplyDeleteGreetings from California. Love reading what you are doing and seeing your sock designs. Mary
ReplyDeleteSeems to me I've been reading your blog for a long time. I also knit a lot of socks but nothing to compare to yours. The leftovers get used in scrappy blocks, with some ugly socks resulting. But I have family who don't care about color/looks; they just want wool socks. So it works out OK.
ReplyDeleteThe tomatoes look delicious, I cannot get such good tomatoes here (Dallas, TX)
ReplyDeleteYou have made me want to get some cottage cheese to go with my tomatoes!
