 Weird weather, +2, no snow, none. And am I ever glad I went to town when I did. Williams Lake and area  have really icy and nasty roads. Hopefully good now until I need prescriptions refilled the end of February. Hydro in replacing power pole up on the driveway. Stopped at the house to tell me that they’d be blocking driveway for a couple of hours, wanting to know if that was OK. Yes better than pole falling and power maybe out for half a day. Sock knitting going well progress on the 3 pair on needles right now. First sock of red monsters done and into 5th colour on second. Shortie bed sock, have ribbing done on number two. Using mostly leftover colours, turq was only full sized ball. I’ve saved leftover bits a yard and more, now two separate bags of variegated yarn and the other solids, as needed just reach in bag and knit with whatever I get, one variegated, then one solid.  Since I last updated my blog in mid September have had lots going on.  First off I went to the Merritt Spinning Retreat October  17-19  and as usual a good time and one of my  yearly highlites. Cindy did and excellent job finding a place for us to meet, the Best  Western in Merritt, had use of their multi purpose room, was tight but we all fit. Gave Cindy (for all she did) her choice  of mild or wild, she chose wild and the gloves fit her perfectly.   Now to the many WIP's I have  going.   The garbage  hauling  neighbours get socks for the  grands,  this is the boys pair, the blue pr. for his sister are finished. They also  got a pair of shorties each.       Then the other socks on the go.  I do several rows on each sock every  day.  And lastly my much loved Koigu gloves.  Windy enuff that barely colour changed leaves are falling like snow, yard is already covered. And I’d bet that the wind will blow up something nasty.  Startitis has landed. Can hardly believe how many projects I, have on the go, gloves, socks (3 pr), baby booties, short bed socks, and prolly more that I’ve forgotten about. As of right now I’ve got shortie bed socks closest to finishing point.after that job is done back to a darkish coloured pr of socks (reds are main colour). College football season is underway, I pick out games I want to watch,  Michigan being first choice. Saturdays are college games and Sundays are pro games. Have been a football fan as long as I can remember, other vices could be worse. Neighbour was at Desert Hills sent me a message asking if there was anything I wanted, another 25 lb box of real field tomatoes arrived the next day.  I use vintage 4 inch 2.25 mm needles for the fingers of my gloves, when one came up missing yesterday I was close to panic. Searched thru all possible places, even went so far as checking box of currently used stuff, zero. After giving it up to the needle eating monster, went for supper. After picked up another project and bingo the lost needle had been stuck into the ball of yarn on the project. RELIEF. Not at all sure I could buy the 4 inchers anymore. Had two late afternoon visits with Thunderman and Lightfoot, lots of noise and spectacular light show, followed by the most welcome heavy hard rain. Puddles in my driveway in just minutes. Since I last wrote made a trip to Prince George, BC to Subaru dealership, appointment Thursday at 8:30 for windshield replacement, had knitting with for the 4-5 hour wait. Car was finished just after 12:30, headed south, made it to 100 Mile House where I overnight at Super 8, then early Friday south again to Ashcroft and Desert Hills farms. Boug...

 After adding last pix  to  previous  post, had problems with my computer. Couldn't get it  to do anything, so restart was in order. The space bar, double or triple a's and e's,  means  its time to shop for a new laptop or something. The  summer  so far hasn't  been to bad, temps in mid 20's  is  OK, some mornings  with single digit lows cools house nicely. Have  only  had one  fire in the area, north of Tatla Lake in Martin Lake area lots of men  on the  ground and helicopters in the sky kept careful track  of it until it was called held. Helicopters could fill the buckets from really close  Tatla Lake. Relief. And enuff rain in Tatlako that most  areas are still almost green. I  keep what  I call a go bag right by car keys, important stuff like passport, wallet, small amount of cash, change  of clothes etc.  Easy to grab if I had to leave in a hurry. My  ne...

 94 year old neighbour visiting and she fell in  love with  my  wild Koigu gloves, so they  went home with her.  So have another wild pair on the needles for the mild -  wild challenge. And  of course have a pair of socks on the needles as well..  Start of the sock with  lots   of leftovers to be used in the patterns.  Back  to  making  my much loved Koigu  gloves, pair I'm working on will have  a solid  coloured blue as  main colour, then all my odds and sods. I save every bit of leftover Koigu a  meter and  longer, even a meter will add a small stripe or pattern. First pix is all the small amounts of variegated, second are the solid colours, with a pix of the started pair, 32 rows ribbing.  I do have another skein of the main blue. The solid orange is the  last I have, sometime in my travels  I hope to find a Canadian yarn shop that sells Koigu.    I haven't seen a bear in  my yard yet this season, usually by now have pix of 5 or 6.  The  weeds I call grass  (so far) are pretty lush, just enuff rain to keep weeds and dandelions growing like crazy.   Besides the Koigu gloves I also have 2 pair of socks and a pair of bed socks on my needles. 

Spent the last weekend of March at Ridge Rock resort in Princeton, BC, semi annual spinning retreat.  Went early and stayed at Gail & Scot's place in Princeton, they gave up their ground floor bedroom so I wouldn't have to do the stairs, above and beyond. Thank you guys. The retreat was at a new to the group place, lots of room, bedrooms were nice and lounge area on our  floor was great. Only disadvantage was the drive, close to 8 hours for me, prolly  wouldn't try  it again if the group goes back. On the drive there had a shimmying at speeds over 80 KM  took  car into Kal Tire in  Princeton, they   came  and told me it  was just  dried  mud  in  wheels, cleaned  wheels  and  told   me  I  was  good to go, no charge.  Pays to deal with a  reputable  place. Sorry for neglecting the blog, other things got in the way and to tell the truth not as interested as I should be.  Have sorta slowed down on sock knitting (ripped  more than one  project out),  back now  on my much loved gloves. Have  a stash of Koigu (IMO the best yarn  for gloves), it doesn't pill, the colours are outstanding  and its sock weight which if perfect for gloves.  First  I  finished  the greenie fingerless with as many  leftover bits as I had  (found  more later).  Then brought stash into the house and sorted by colours, variegated and solids, have more variegated than  solids, so will have to watch  for sales and get more especially  in  blues, greens and purples.  Pix is what  I'm currently  working on.  Winter so  far  has  been relatively  mild, no arctic air yet  and very  little snow.  Think maybe  3-4 inches in total  so far. I  have finished a  load of stuff,  Fatties,  Monster Socks, bed socks and two  pair  patterned and  have more  on the needles.   Even tho its been  mild  I  stay  home and indoors, have a great fear of failing on slippery  surfaces. Even with ice cleats on my  boots and the ice spike  on my cane. Really  enjoyed the World Junior hockey  games this winter,  this  time from  Ottawa,  Ontario so not to bad for time differences.  Next year in  Minnesota so time  will  be even  better.
