Left home Thursday 4th for town, ultrasound up at hospital (all clear), prescription at SaveOn. Motel 4th. Friday the 5th drove to Merritt in a round about way, down to hiway #8, finding it closed so back up to Ashcroft and across to Merritt. Saturday the 6th was the Merritt's Mesa spin in, a perfect venue and one of the best spin ins I've been to. Hope we all meet there again. Then Sunday 7th headed south visiting in Langley with old friend Sally. The 8th down to states, first time in 3 years, hasn't changed a bit. Had lunch with Val S. at Stanwoods in Northgate area, passed Sue Wilsons spinning wheel back to Val, I just never got on with it. Had a pair of socks with that just happened to fit Val, waiting on pix from her.. 10th saw me heading north, crossing the border, piece of cake, hadn't bought anything but 2 skeins yarn and 2 16 " circular needles, a few groceries from Fred Meyers.
Home Friday after a stop in Ashcroft to pick up 75 pounds tomatoes, for me, Audra and Selma. Real tomatoes the kind grown outside in dirt. Have had one every meal since getting home.
Socks that went to Vicki, she wasn't able to come to spin in due to Covid coming to visit, so Gail delivered socks on her way home, perfect timing for sick patient. Made a pair of socks for Chris A when he had heart surgery, just was a bit late getting them to him. Sent home with Lynne A from Merritt's Mesa.
Had a pair made for Mary Ann Smith as well for saving me her odds & sods.
And a pair for Judy Sue.
This batch of sock yarn was from a trade with Vicki, yarn got to Gails in lower mainland and then Covid hit, so just got this batch at Merritt's Mesa on the 6th

    Glad you were able to get out and do some traveling, visiting, and spinning. Beautiful socks, and love the yarn you brought back. I just came in from picking tomatoes, The cherry tomatoes are doing so well this year, but the Big Boys are real slow. I'm getting anxious for some BLT's. Happy Knitting from Wisconsin.

    So much beautiful yarn and socks. It sounds like a great trip. Those blue socks you bought are really nice; I'll have to visit that site. Just what is needed here, more sock yarn.

    Wow - you do make the rounds when you get going!! Love the socks. Reminds me of all the sock knitting fun I used to have . . . . must pull the rag out! Love that last batch of yarn you got - I am really into tropicals this year. Can't wait to see how you use them.

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
