Whidbey Island

Arrived early today just after 2 pm was lucky my motel room was available, checked and then had 30 minute nap. Spinning tomorrow at the high school gym. May wait until Val arrives with my new folding wagon before trying to haul stuff in. Hip certainly not comfortable, even the T3's don't help much. Tomorrow might be a chore combined with fun.

On the road again

Spinning wheel loaded in the car, will do suitcase in the morning and the rest of the light stuff. Into the Willie tomorrow, lots of running to do. Will stay at Denise's place Monday and Tuesday nights. Car in for spring go over Tuesday. Wednesday will head for Sally's in Langley, taking her wherever she would like to go. Then Friday down to Whidbey Island and their annual spinning weekend.

Spring ? ? ?

Image
-11° C for the first day of spring. But at least it didn't snow. The 2nd bobbin of the vintage roving from Reflection Farms is about 1/4 done, this bag had more blues along with patches of greens, think once its plied with the mostly green first bobbin that I will really like it. A little over a month ago Christine started on this sweater, the yarn is all my handspun and the design her own, I think she did an incredible job especially since she doesn't use any pattern. I also got her addicted to making socks, she really did well with the Fatties from the Monstersock group, think she has now done 5 or 6 pair. And I am still knitting (as hands allow) on Kristie's socks, pattern knitting when I have to use both hands seems to be the most troublesome. I will persevere tho and get them done. I saw DR Rob in Tatla on Thursday and he has started the ball rolling on getting hip replacement for me, consultation with surgeon in Kamloops will prolly t...

Stuff

Knitting bee today and should get a bit more in the way of bodies showing up. For me its another blood donation, last time was two weeks ago and at that time was withing the range that DR wants, now for the last month. Rained yesterday that plus strong south winds, got rid of almost all snow, just a few smallish patches left in my yard. Was -3° C this morning so trip to Tatla will be on the frost and return home will be in the mud. My driveway will be "pay attention" kind of driving. But would much rather the mud than ice. Two pair of socks on the go the pair for Kristie is using two colors per row and that is meaning that I use both hands in patterned rows, depending how arthritis is only try for maybe 4-5 rows before taking a break, the second pair is a pair of real Monstersocks with very few rows where I have any kind of pattern. Just using up small balls of odds & sods. Made 3 Naan bread pizza's last night, with pineapple, mushrooms and a bit of leftover c...

squash

Had a large Butternut squash in my cold room and finally cooked it in the oven last Monday, cut in half, ate smallest piece two nights in a row, then got out the largest piece yesterday and scooped out the cooked squash and put it in the blender along with two cans chicken broth, oh my goodness. This I will do again. Had enuff for supper last night and will eat it again tonight. Think its one of the best soups I've ever made, course I say that after each batch. But I do like soups of almost all kinds. Got out on Wednesday for the knitting bee, small attendance Jeanie, Christine and me, it was also blood letting day, this time 2 weeks in between, has now been stable for two times in a row, Dr E called last night and its again in the range they want it to be 2.7. Took the two electric spinning wheel belts out with me and Christine held the match and we fused them back together, all the fuss and muss of getting them neither one held up for more than 15 minutes, so today will go ba...
