Several years ago I bought two shades of green from Reflection Farms at conference, well aged in the stash. Used some of it in the mish mash of greens I did earlier, but still quite a bit of both greens still available. So while I am in the mood to finish bags I kept going on the first green, sides I like seeing green since it will be several months before anything green shows up outside. Spinning it into what will be a fingering weight, nice for socks or maybe even a shawl. Made motel reservations for Whidbey Islands spinning weekend, am really looking forward to going down and especially seeing flowers and green grass. Will be meeting Val there and will pick up the folding wagon she picked up for me, will make hauling stuff into spinning room so much easier. Most times when I ply I end up with stuff left on one bobbin (sometimes quite a bit), this time I had 3 bobbins with leftovers all in various shades of rosey pinks, so with a full bobbin of merino-nylon also in close to same shade of rosey pinks I plied the 3 with the merino. Ended up with way more than I thought I would, just over 1300 yards on the three. All are close to fingering weight, not yet sure what I will do with the three. After 47 days of sub arctic weather a Chinook finally blew in, instead of temps in the -20 to -30 range its now +5 with a strong south wind, even had a day and a half of rain. Snow in yard is about 50% gone and my driveway would be what I call challenging, wet ice, no thanks will stay home. Just put Bisquick-ed chicken tenders in the oven, first dipped in a beaten egg then the Bisquick mix (with a bit of onion soup mix, paprika, seasoned salt, pepper) wish I had salad fixings, nothing except a few baby carrots. Finished the second pair of handspun socks, thought I might run short of the variegated reds I used for the main color, but looking for something else found another skein, relief. Next as promised will be the socks for Kristie, wound all skeins into center pull balls Sunday morning and will get started on the socks later today. Lots of Hazel Knits, Cascade Heritage wool-silk mixes, and bonus will have enuff leftover for another project down the road. Visiting fox has been back several times, tracks all over my yard, altho some I am sure are deer and maybe even a moose or two. Would like to get a pix of fox jumping in the air trying to get a mouse under the snow, when this has happened its been around 7:30am not light enuff for anything to show up. Finished the first pair of handspun socks last night, washed them (along with 15 pair of other socks), not as happy as I thought I would be with this pair, none of my boots are big enuff that I can wear them in. So will relegate them to wearing in the house when its really cold (below zero F), and that is supposed to happen starting tonight. 11° below tonight and a good bit colder tomorrow night 24° below zero is whats forecast. Second pair of handspun socks down to toe decreases on first sock, much brighter with lots of odds & sods. Had a pair of handspun socks hanging around for a long time, much to small for my fat legs.
