Grizzly #2 & Woolie stuff

7:15 am had griz #2 walk right by east wool room window, then over to big pine tree for a good back scratch.
TdF starts tomorrow and for a change I have 7 empty bobbins, will empty two more yet this morning. Have gone thru all fibre containers and got all various green out and will decide in the morning which one I will start with.

Finished spinning the vintage Crown Mountains Farms merino, haven't a clue why I picked the colour, maybe plied with white or a dark gray might help.

The engine light on my year old Subaru came on, took car into town to see if they could figure out problem, nope. So called Subaru in PG (closest dealer) they couldn't look at car for 10 days, tried Subaru dealer in Kamloops they've closed so headed south to Langley to dealer I bought car from. Turns out a mouse or mouses chewed a wire that  electronics didn't like, so engine light on, no cruise control and lots of other little issues. Car in overnight (got a courtesy car), first thing the next morning got car back and I left straight away for home and the high country. Don't know what I can do to avoid problem, the joys of living where the mousies roam free. But it got me into town for groceries (much needed) and a haircut complete with mask.

  1. We had that problem with my husband's truck at our other house. He started setting a trap under the truck which got a lot of mice, eventually problem went away. They must have seen their buddies spring the trap and decided it wasn't such a good place to stay. Also had issues with squirrels getting under the hood and chewing wires - found lots of acorns in the air filter.

  2. My husband has the problem with his boat and has also set lots of traps. He's also trying to seal up all the holes they use to get into the bottom of the boat, including one place where they broke out the bottom of a cupholder and crawled in and built a nest. He's really tired of repairing wiring every time he wants to go fishing! On the other hand, we don't have bears.

  3. Thanks for the new bear pics! He/She appeared to be very close to your house. I am glad that you got to the hairdresser and the grocery story, but sorry about the car trouble. Know that both of those visits, especially to the hairdresser, made you feel better! Have fun with the TdF. I will be waiting to see how many of those bobbins you fill up.

  4. Wow i never knew mice could create a care problem like that. You had to go a long way to get it fixed but am glad you got it fixed and that it wasn't happening in the middle of winter. I hope those bears don't keep coming around to your house.

  5. Rodent damage to car wiring is a problem in the wooded area where I live in California, too. Many people swear by putting scented Bounce dryer sheets in the engine compartment. The theory is that rats and mice are repelled by the smell. I have also heard that Irish Spring soap works as well.

  6. We had a mouse living under a chair in our house. It to us months to realize and a while before we caught him. Poor mousie was living pretty well for a while.
