Expensive Town Trip

Went in to town, (Williams Lake, 160 miles east) on Monday Jan 30, first thing I did was get a much needed haircut, dentist app't on 31st (expensive) then trip into optometrist on 1st Feb (also expensive), need new glasses current lenses are almost 5 years old, and frames easily that old as well, paid bills Visa, Telus and Hydro, paid propane bill and bought a major grocery order. Ordered 10 lbs grass fed extra lean ground beef from local butcher shop as well and several smaller amounts pork products (local means not finished in or from China). Left town just before noon on Wednesday and down my driveway just a bit after 3 pm, Dorian arrived via school bus at 3:30 to unload the car, takes him less at 10 minutes and would have taken me 2-3 days, included in grocery stuff were 4 flats of water, my house water is lousy for drinking. Hadn't been to town since November 17 so was out of all produce, cheese, rice and on and on. So last night and Wednesday night had large kitchen sink salads, what I was craving the most. Was extremely lucky in that roads both ways were bare and dry (most unusual) and timing was perfect as forecast for next 3-4 days are for snow flurries and periods of snow means roads likely will be in winter driving conditions again.

Took smaller sock knitting with me, socks for a 2 year old, Jo takes my trash to dump and I send her home with small socks for her granddaughter, 2 dump runs for socks to keep babies feet warm, good deal for me and her. Also ongoing are socks for KH in Chilliwack.

Super Bowl on Sunday, I'll make a pot of chicken w/rice soup on Saturday, now that I have celery and carrots again, then won't have to worry or think about what to have on Sunday. Tatlako is into another brief arctic stretch of weather, -21° C has been overnight lows.

  1. HI. Lynne, I just wanted you to know that I just love to read your blogs. I am in total awe of you and your life style. I live in Geraldton, in Western Australia, so your weather is totally opposite to mine, and it is hard for me to imagine just how you live with such extreme coldness. Perhaps I am a big sook whereas you are as tough as teak.
Stay safe and warm, and keep the blogs coming. vickiatseven.
