More green stuff

Have now run out of two of the greens, poking around found a small amount of green kid mohair, fits nicely in the mix, then found a merino-mohair blend that might work. Its actually a blend of maybe 5 or 6 colors, will give it a try and see if my hands can turn out what I see in my mind. Even if it isn't what I'm looking for will be usable yarn for something.

12:30 well that batch didn't work, so kept looking and found a couple of 4 oz bags of something called Green Goddess a merino-tussah silk mix, perfect.

My wild mountain valley is full of smoke, from the big fire up south-west of Prince George, the wind when conditions are right bring smoke down into the valleys. There is another fire just west of Anahim Lake about 75 air miles from Tatlako. Good time to stay indoors with my spinning wheel and knitting. The rain that fell yesterday was most welcome, not nearly enuff but will take what ever amount. Tuff for the holiday travelers but fire season is underway, there is even a camp fire ban in place, its that bad already.

    Amazing how far the smoke travels! Yuck. Good to stay in and spin until the air quality improves. Definitely an early start to the fire season this year.

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
