Getting ready

For upcoming NwRSA trip, started laundry first thing this morning and promptly washed a Kleenex, doesn't stay tog any better than I last time I tried. Took everything outside to shake it in the wind, still had to vacuum up some pieces. 3 loads done, last in the machine now.

Yesterday while spinning I saw a flash of a deer in panic mode running for its life, about 50 feet behind was either a wolf or coyote, happened to fast to know for sure.

Last nights storm with lots of lightening, Thunderman and Lightfoot followed by enuff rain that if something was set ablaze the rain took care of it.

Back 3rd or 4th ish of June.

Sunday 9:45 Finished the 2nd bobbin of the mixed greens, then folded spinning wheel and got it in its traveling bag, will load in the car tomorrow.

    I saw Kristie this afternoon and she passed on the Elizabeth Zimmermann books. Thank you very much Lynne. What a treasure they will be to read - I am starting with "Knitter's Almanac" published in 1974. Thank you again.

    I am knitting along on a "long" sock. I was very inspired by your Monster Socks. Maybe we will meet again.....

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
