Slowly getting ready

A couple of days later than I should be in getting ready for upcoming OFFF trip. Laundry being the number one issue, have a load in washer now and will do at least two more yet today, about half can be put on folding rack to dry the rest can be hung up on hangers. The rack under the ceiling fan and even the heaviest towels will be dry by morning, then a couple more loads and I should be far enuff along that stuff like sheets can wait until I get home.

Emptied one bobbin (just had a verra small amount of yellow on it), have two full bobbins of BFL-Silk mix that I will ply either today or tomorrow, that will give me 3 empty bobbins and the one on the spinning wheel with what I am currently spinning , not much on it.

Have two piles of stuff started one for OFFF and one for Desert Mesa, and right away when I think of something go directly to taking care of whatever it was, latest was lazy kate for the Schacht wheel. DM at least if fairly close 5 hours instead of 15 plus down to Canby, OR for OFFF.

If all goes according to plans will stop on the way home in Spences Bridge and pick up a 20 lb box of tomatoes for me and another 20 lb for various other people to share. Will make sure I have room in the car. Even if I have to leave stuff at Gail's for her to maybe bring with to DM.

    Just catching up on blog news...you are probably away by now on your trip, have a great time...sounds like fun. Waiting to hear of your adventures......

4 more pair on needles, work on each for at least 10 rows every other day before putting it down. Blue pair is farest along and have everything ready for sock #2. Blue pair will be identical all the others fraternal. A couple of nights ago bout 9pm saw a blue heron land in tree just south of the house, watched it preen for some time and when it was to dark for a pix 2 more landed in tree beside the first. Same day saw a kingfisher dive towards the river. Bear activity has cooled down, assume they are over at the Chilko River system fishing for salmon. Last black I saw was just its backside as it headed for the west fence got a quick pix but not worth posting. Nothing much happening in my wild mountain valley these days, some ranchers have finally been able to start cutting hay, and everyone else is hoping for rain. So many bad fires in BC again this season.

Finally got myself to town Dec. 27-28. Prescriptions, haircut, groceries, and most important getting bank Visa problems straightened out. Tried dealing with bank via telephone and both times I connected got someone that wouldn't acknowledge that I was hard of hearing, heavy accents didn't help. Had 7 charges for Play Station almost $1000, since I've never even seen one, wasn't me . Because of all the weird charges they wouldn't activate the new Visa card. A good weather window opened so in I went, took almost an hour getting everything straightened out. Meanwhile when I did get to the grocery store almost filled my buggy with produce and fruit. Had help unloading the car when I got home Thursday 3 ish. Grizzlies

May 30th had a visiting grizzly complete with two yearling cubs, camera at hand got 3 pix before she and cubs wandered off. 2023 season off to a good start, 2 blacks and 3 griz in my yard. Sock knitting continues as always, pix of latest finished pair of Monstersocks. As soon aas they were finished started another pair using a midnight blue Hawthorne from Knit Picks, but instead of Monstersocks am going back to old standby fair-nordic patterns, dk blue will be main colour then orange, med gray, red and white for the patterns. Fairly conservative for my knitting. Went into town on Monday, oil change, checked in at Speedy Glass about a new windshield (come back in a week), picked up my new glasses, then a motel for the night. Tuesday had dentist appointment at 9 am, think its the last for a while, then renewed ICBC (license plate and insurance for another year), picked up some groceries and lastly Kal Tire where I finally got winter tires off my Subie (they go back on October 1).
